Will I receive a high school diploma or GED diploma when I pass the GED Test?
When you pass the GED Test, you will receive a GED credential. Each state or province calls their credential a little something different. For instance, when you pass the GED test in Arkansas, you receive the Arkansas high school diploma. However, when you pass the GED test in Texas, you receive the certificate of high school equivalency. Most locations will give you the diploma or certificate on a piece of paper. But everyone receives a paper copy of the transcript to use when applying to schools or jobs. Is an online high school diploma the same as a GED credential?
No. The GED Test cannot be taken online. Many frauds and scams exist on the internet. Most online high schools and online tests will take your money. Sometimes up to 200 to 300 dollars for a diploma that schools and employers will not accept. The Better Business Bureau warned people about schools like this. If you’re trying to take the GED Test and aren’t sure if a website is offering a real GED Test, ask yourself these questions:
1. Do they award diplomas based on life experience and not subjects like those offered in a real high school?
2. Do they offer hints or clues to help online test questions?
3. Do they allow you to take a test at home without any proctor or testing monitor?
4. Do they guarantee you will receive a diploma within a few days, week or months?
If you can answer “Yes” to any of these questions, you should think twice before paying money for the program. Bottom line, if it sounds way to easy and too good to be true, it probably is. One way to be sure is to call your local community college and ask if they accept the online credential.
